Nicole Wittenberg Sunset, 2022 captures the rich orange hues of a setting sun and their equally beautiful reflections in the water below the horizon. The sun itself radiates a fiery colorful intensity, as its aura fills the rest of the sky with these pinkish gradients which too are mirrored by the waters below. Wittenberg plays with these bright, warm colors in this landscape scene, while simultaneously creating a sense of balance as the vertical tree on the left harmonizes compositionally with the sun and its unfolding reflections on the right. The vegetation in the foreground and the breaks of land in the distance effectively create these abstracted registers of color that render visible the affective intensity of witnessing such a vibrant sunset.

Created in 2022, this archival pigment ink and hand-varnishing on Innova Etching Cotton Rag 315 gsm paper is hand-signed by Nicole Wittenberg (san Francisco,  1979 - ). Numbered from the edition of 20.
