Maurice de Vlaminck Vase de Fleurs, 1958; This stunning arrangement of flowers gives new meaning to the still life genre. The deep brown hues of the vase help to bring out the delicate white, red, and blue flowers, which burst from their holder. Such diverse color done in delicate and soft strokes set against muted tones in the background gives the illusion of depth and place. Within such color and strokes Vlaminck creates a richness that can be found nowhere else. A still life of subtle and relaxing energy, this work is one the best we’ve had the pleasure of owning by Vlaminck.
