Exemplifying Chagall's immense skill as a colorist, this work is one of his most striking and vibrant lithographs. A luscious bouquet of bright red-pink roses and purple and yellow mimosas envelops the composition, delighting the eye with its beauty and splendor. The mimosa, one of Chagall's favorite flowers, is delineated through Chagall's soft, dreamlike lines and splashes of saturated color. In his signature style, Chagall transports the viewer to a place of carefree fancy, a place full of relaxation and joy. Beneath the monumental bouquet of roses and mimosas, a mother and child rest as if lounging in the shade of a tree. We can almost imagine ourselves at their side, enjoying the sunny weather and the aromatic smell of fresh-cut flowers.

Created in 1975, this original lithograph is hand signed by Marc Chagall (Vitebsk, 1887 - Saint-Paul, 1985) in pencil in the lower right margin and numbered from the edition of 50 in pencil in the lower left margin.
