Historical Description

Created in 1956, this color lithograph was featured as part of a series of 105 engravings made by Marc Chagall between 1930 – 1955 to illustrate The Bible, originally started by Vollard in 1930.  Published by Verve, Paris and printed by Mourlot, Paris on Arches paper, this work is numbered 11/50 in pencil in the lower left margin. Hand-signed by Marc Chagall (1887 – 1985) in pencil in the lower right margin.
