Marc Chagall Bouquet Multicolore (Multicolored Bouquet), 1975 is an enchanted fairy-tale like scene that completely saturates your vision with bright colors, endearing faunas, and joyous celebrations. There is a sense of jubilant power that Chagall emits in this particular scenery that somehow manages to stir up multiple cheerful emotions. Colors alternate between rosy fuchsia, canary yellow, gold, blue, and green mixtures that are reminiscent of a pasture. Chagall’s folkloric imagination here is at play. Fantastical creatures float in thin air, surrounding the large bouquet that is the focal point of the entire piece. The landscape fills with traces of pastel hues of ink, multicolored into short erratic brushstrokes. Animals and humans alike come into existence onto the scene in one gigantic hurrah. An entire village with a crowd of people including two lovers near the lower margin is drawn. The looming symbol of the extravagant bouquet accentuates the amorous love between these two lovers. Not only are they tenderly holding onto each other, but Chagall depicts them in varying fashions of color. Purple hair and green skin, their highly unusual depiction graces this work of art. Along with utilization of technique and sensation, Chagall creates a lavish orchestra of colors and forms.
