Leonardo Nierman Enchanted Valley, 1966; Nierman's interest in mathematics and physics, subjects of study while he was at university, comes through in this beautiful piece. Unanchored by any fixed representation, Enchanted Valley evokes the rush of wind through tree branches or even the sweep of a wave as it pulls back to crash on the shore. Visually related to such paintings as Flight Sensation, this work imparts a sense of dynamism linked to Nierman's perception - and rendering - of worlds seen and felt. He gives a visual identity to the disembodied elements of the world, infusing them with a characteristically vibrant palette.
Created in 1966, this unique, original oil painting on Masonite board is hand-signed and -dated in white in the lower left corner 'Nierman 66.'
