Contrasting varied colors and textures, Miró creates a dynamic composition full of movement and liveliness. Thick, horizontal forms drift across the sheet, their brush strokes clearly delineated. Circular swirls and jagged, erratic lines take up the left side of the composition and adopt a rough, crayon-like texture that reveals the unevenness of the paper surface. To the lower right, a vertical line, beautifully composed of blue and green hues, arises from the ground. The composition remains wonderfully balanced, yet the lines and forms, going off in different directions, encourage the viewer's eyes to flit across the entire surface without pinpointing a single focal point.
Created in 1964, this work is published by Sala Gaspar, Barcelona and printed on watermarked Guarro paper. From a series of eleven color lithographs used in the book Miró, Obra Inedita Recent. Initialed 'M' by Joan Miró (1893-1983) in the lower right in pencil, this work is numbered 33/100 in pencil in the lower left on Guarro paper; Texts by Joan Brossa, A.Cirici and E. Cirlot. This book was originally published as a catalogue for the Miró exhibitions at the Sala Gaspar, Galeria Metras, and Belarte of Barcelona, 1964.
