Joan Miró La Mélodie Acide (The Sound Acid), PL.5, 1980; With a firm black form composed of bold, thick lines taking center stage in this composition, Miró places bright colors of red, blue and yellow around it, giving it extended limbs and forms. Thinner, wispy lines circle furiously to form other focal points. This softens the form, and enables Miró to better connect with nature, humanity and the cosmos which he enjoyed doing in all of his works. In this one however, and with this particular series, La Mélodie Acide, Miró places an additional connection to sound, which one can almost feel through the spiraling dots of blacks and seemingly brilliant movement found hidden within the composition.
Created in 1980, The Sound Acid (La Mélodie Acide) PL.5, 1980, is one from a series of 14 lithographs by Joan Miró titled La Mélodie Acide that was printed by Maeght, Paris. Hand signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right, this work is numbered from the edition of 20 in pencil in the lower left; aside from the Roman numeral edition of VII and the HC edition.
