Historical Description

Created in 1978 Joan Miró from 'Album 21', 1978 was one of twenty one illustrations Miró executed for Carlos Franqui’s collection of poetry entitled Album 21. A character gazes at the viewer, its eyes wide and its mouth open as if in shock. Two large front teeth inhabit its mouth, adding a playful, childish quality to the figure at view. Constructed with textural color, this work is emblematic of Miró’s unique style. The work’s literary focus ensures it will please a wide variety of audiences.

Created in 1972, this color lithograph on Arches paper is hand signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right. This work is Numbered from the edition of 75 in pencil in the lower left, aside from the edition of 15 artist’s proofs; published by Maeght Éditeur, Paris and printed by Mourlot, Paris.
