Historical Description

Joan Miró, Une Telle Et Son Petit Mari, 1970 depicts a bold and colorful image with a variety of textural qualities, giving this work a sense of movement and liveliness. A bold dark black figure occupies the central area in this work. Rays of brilliant yellows, blues, reds, and greens shoot out from the central figure against a white background speckled in black. A smaller figure to the left subtly mimics the form of the larger, central figure and appears as if dancing. The juxtaposition of vertical and horizontal lines set against a textured background creates an engaging work that leads the viewer's eye from the center of the composition outwards.

Created in 1970, this original color etching, aquatint, and carborundum is signed in the lower right margin in pencil by Joan Miró (1893-1983). This work is numbered from the edition of 75; published by Maeght éditeur, Paris and printed on Arches paper by Arte Adrien Maeght, Paris.
