Andy Warhol Truck, 1985 FS II.368 features a truck color-blocked with red and green, with a solid royal blue background. The contrasting colors make for an eye-catching work, a common technique in Warhol's screenprint works. Other elements of the work, like the use of visible outlining and the simple yet captivating color palette are also hallmarks of Warhol's artistic style. Warhol presents the truck to the viewer as an object worthy of being the center of an artwork, transforming the everyday object into something special. This print was created as part of a portfolio of four similar prints to commemorate the 20th World Congress of International Road Transportation Union (IRU). This congress is held each year to brainstorm ideas on how to improve mass transportation in the European Union and finding economically and environmentally friendly solutions.
