Andy Warhol Cooking Pot, 1962 marks the beginning of Warhol's unique consumerism-informed style that would influence the contemporary art world forever. The unassuming simplicity of the print, featuring an ad for a 77 cent cooking pot, belies the groundbreaking idea it represents: equating the mass-media ads and commercial images with the grandeur of fine art. This charming work, one of the very first of Warhol's ventures into printmaking, is as fascinating for its time-capsule shot of the quaint 60's advertisement style as it is for its power as the birth of Warhol's now ubiquitous pop art style.
